The purpose of the Association is to operate as a charitable and educational organization by promoting tolerance and understanding between people of different culture, ethnicity and background in special reference to Asian Indians and within the meaning of section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, or the corresponding provision of any future United State Internal Revenue Service law (the Code). The Association is not formed for pecuniary profit or financial gain. . The Association will provide members of the Asian-Indian (herein after called “Indian") community and all others, in the county of Collier and the surrounding areas, with an organization dedicated to the above purposes and to foster closer ties between people. To achieve the above objectives the Association may perform any lawful act or activity for which corporations not-for-profit is permitted under the Florida Not For Profit Corporation Act. Notwithstanding any other provisions of these Articles to the contrary, the Association shall not have or exercise any power that would cause it not to qualify as a tax-exempt organization under section 501 (c)(3) of the Code; nor shall the Association engage directly or indirectly in any activity that would cause the loss of such qualification. The Association in an effort to achieve its objectives will raise funds though sponsorship of events, functions, entertainments, accept donations, acquire property and disburse funds as necessary.
